(26,549 posts)The exchanges are better for most people than employer-provided insurance. For example, they actually have a choice between plans. You don't get that from the vast majority of employers. You get the one plan that provided the best whores to the CEO. Plus the ACA provides various financial help to make the plans affordable. I know when I worked retail the "employer-provided" insurance was a joke - it would consume 80% of a paycheck. But according to this OP, that's what we should fight to keep.
The point of the ACA is to provide the framework in which we finish health care reform. Without that framework, it would have to get much, much, much worse before there was enough national political will to enact single-payer. The exchanges and the ACA greatly shorten that path with a lot less suffering.
