14. Churning butter

My grandfather drove mail RFD for 46 years, retiring in the 1960s. One day he stopped to deliver mail at a country house and the lady was churning butter for the Grange Hall supper. She had a rag tied around her head because her nose was dripping from a cold. He said they did not eat butter that night.
