(239 posts)I'm 62 and financially comfortable. Because I am white and straight the Trump Presidency has not effected me much. But I have gay friends, a trans friend, three Muslim friends, three Jewish friends and several friends who are Black. I worry about their future. I see the racial and religious hatred in this hatred and I am scared for them. I despise Trump for encouraging this hatred of the "other".
I used to love this country, but no more. These past 4 yrs have let me see the truly ugly side of this country and I am disgusted by it. We have a huge number of people in this country who are anti-science, bigoted, sexist, mean-spirited, self-centered and dumb as rocks. I hate it! And don't get me started on the religious fanatics!
I'd love to leave this country of flag-waving yahoos and go someplace sane where people care about each other and don't fall for idiotic conspiracy theories. New Zealand in my first choice followed by Canada. I'd love to live in Portugal but I don't speak the language. But moving to another country would also be a pain in the ass. Leaving friends and family, moving my stuff, etc. Or I could just ride it out here and hope for things to get better. So I am pondering what I want to do.
