... after the polls closed (and as expected). I and others here obviously hoped the lead would hold up, but nope.

I still think it's wise to count them ASAP because what if there's a fire just before election day? I saw a Milwaukee election official being interviewed before election day, in a room full of uncounted ballots everywhere, and it caused me tremendous anxiety about a fire destroying them. It's not like they were placed in fire-proof boxes or something similar.
