My sister-in-law died last year of pancreatic cancer. Like Trebek she was Stage 4. Her biggest hope was qualifying for the Whipple surgery. Sadly that never happened. She was enrolled in an experimental program with little effect. Shortly after that she just stopped fighting.

I do remember she followed Trebek's progress and was perplexed why he seemingly was doing so much better in his treatment program. I think I read he'd gone into remission at one point. But Stage 4 is very difficult, so I wasn't surprised when I read the news.

Good luck in your ongoing treatments. Stage 1 has a far better track record. Most often the disease is diagnosed at the later, more difficult to control stages.
