39. This honestly concerns me a bit

Part of the reason that we're seeing the nation become so intensely divided is partly due to social media echo chambers. I have family members who, in the past few years have grown INSANELY more conservative (like starting to believe conspiracy theory stuff now) because their Facebook feeds have gradually shown them posts and "news" stories that are more and more conservative and conspiratorial in nature (because of their "like" preferences on the platform). And what's scary is that these family members are well educated folks.

I'm just concerned that if most of the conservatives in our country flee to this new platform, the echo chamber effect will spiral out of control exponentially with them (at the very least, they'll likely be pushed further from receiving legitimate sources of news).

I guess I'm mainly worried that this will further divide our nation and increase the level of misinformation spread in our nation. Someone please make me feel better about this...
