Your point is well taken. Look at all of the posts since Trump was installed that say something along the lines of "He will do ANYTHING". He is a caged animal", etc.
Well, those posts have proven to be true...there is no bottom for him, and there is nothing that he will not try to do to save himself.
So you are not paranoid, and your post has a basis in reality.
That being said, remember that every day that passes by, every day that Biden establishes and strengthens his transition and positions himself as a leader...is a day that Trump becomes weaker and weaker, and less likely to be a problem.
