5. I saw a show about this several years ago.

They were training the rats and the handlers. It was amazing what they could do. Dogs are too heavy and would set off the land mines. The rats, on the other hand, are much smaller and very trainable. That group was using big white rats. Apparently, rats are very social and work well with their handlers.
