In reply to the discussion: Does anyone know what Hannity and Drudge are talking about re: new video? [View all]highplainsdem
(61,923 posts)40. Not sure. This Lynn Sweet column in the Chicago Sun Times in 2007 has the full transcript:
http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2007/06/sweet_blog_special_obama_warns.html
But it says that's the transcript "As Prepared for Delivery."
Drudge's site has some "quotes" that aren't in the transcript, above the headline:
And there's a headline below the main headline saying the Daily Caller will have the "unscrubbed" video.
I'd guess those two "quotes" that Drudge gives are what the wingnuts think are most outrageous.
But I don't see anything outrageous about the comments on Rev. Wright (though it might seem that way to wingnuts who demonize him, who weren't going to vote for Obama anyway). And even if there is a quote in there saying "we don't need to build more highways out in the suburbs," then I'd guess that was just where Obama wandered off script while talking about the importance of public transportation, and he was contrasting the important of that with building more highways to the suburbs. Which means the quote wouldn't upset anyone in context, but of course Fox and their wingnut friends will take it out of context.
This is from the speech transcript on that blog:

THE ACCENT... THE ANGER... THE ACCUSATIONS... THE SERMON...
THE SHOUT OUT TO REV. WRIGHT, WHO IS IN AUDIENCE...
'My pastor, the guy who puts up with me, counsels me, listens to my wife complain about me. He's a friend and a great leader. Not just in Chicago, but all across the country'..
FOXNEWS 9 PM ET...
'We don't need to build more highways out in the suburbs'...
And there's a headline below the main headline saying the Daily Caller will have the "unscrubbed" video.

This is from the speech transcript on that blog:
We know that we have to invest in transitional jobs too. When there are people who are homeless, veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder from this war in Iraq, and thousands of children aging out of foster care, we cant expect them to have all the skills they need for work. They may need help with basic skillshow to show up to work on time, wear the right clothes, and act appropriately in an office. We have to help them get there. Thats why I have called for $50 million to begin innovative new job training and workforce development programs.
But what good are these efforts if men and women cant afford the bus fare or the subway fare or the car insurance to get to the training center or new job. That is why, as president, I will invest in transportation.
We know that three-quarters of welfare recipients live in areas that are poorly served by public transportation and low-income workers spend up to 36% of their incomes on transportation. That is why I will fight to ensure that the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program provides grants to improve low-income access to transportation. And that additional federal public transportation dollars flow to the highest-need communities. No one should be denied work in this country because they cant find public transportation in their neighborhood.
