If he really wants to leave, he can always ditch his Secret Service Detail and leave. Secret Service protection is not mandatory if the protectee refuses it. Also, SDNY is a Federal entity, not a State one, so if he tries to pardon himself or resigns and Pence pardons him, that would include SDNY charges. However, the Manhattan DA and NY State AG can come after him as the pardon only affects federal jurisdictions.
