partisanship from the right. The media would find critics and the resulting notoriety would tarnish his legacy and bring his position as a judge into suspicion.

No, Obama does not need to throw himself on a sacrificial alter to appease anyone. He's doing just fine as a private citizen where he has unlimited options to do whatever appeals to him.
