(20,226 posts)It does not necessarily change the fundamentals of the race which still favor the President. I recall following the first Mondale/Reagan debate of 1984 - Mondale was so on target and Reagan performed so pathetically - the generous comment made by one of Reagan's honest supporters was, "well at least he didn't drool." Obama certainly was not't that bad. In fact he wasn' really bad at all. As James Carville put it, "he acted like he just didn't want to be there." I'm afraid that showed a bit. But basically neither Romney or the President landed any solid punches or scored any great points. When opponents start throwing around technical figures to counter the other sides technical figures - a very muddied picture emerges and nobody really wins the argument.
