(54,932 posts)New laws are coming into existence that have the indirect effect of repressing sexuality. You have regulations that make it harder to access abortion where it's still available (and that's lessening in numbers progressively). * Stuff like waiting periods, parental notification, a description of the fetus before you get on the table, sonograms, etc. Then you have characters like Rick Santorum who isn't satisfied with banning all abortion in all 50 states. He wants to allow states to criminalize birth control not only for unmarried couples but also for marrieds. When one or both of a couple is worried about pregnancy as a result of a blissful encounter, that will certainly repress sexuality for that act and/or in the future. (I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop where adultery is returned as a criminal statute with a trial.)
