(5,412 posts)Romney could have been talking about marshmallows last night.
This is not what made him "win" the debate.
What made him win was he sounded prepared.
He had talking points, and he hammered them at every opportunity, and decisively.
In short, he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.
Yes, you and I know that it is absurd that the head of the GOP can stand there with a straight face and say, "I'm not going to cut taxes for the wealthy!"
Yes, you and I know that it is absurd that the head of the GOP, the party that really doesn't give a shit about poor people, can stand up there and basically say, "Hey, I love Obamacare/Romneycare - as long as it is administered on the state level!"
You and I know that we need to invest in alternative energy, and it is a false dichotomy to say we have to choose between teachers and alternative energy, but when he gets up there and says, "For the money you spent on green energy you could have hired a million teachers, oh, and by the way, your campaign donors were benefiting from those investments," man, that shit sticks!
I'm annoyed with all the people saying that this was all just a "hang back" strategy from the President. I don't buy it. The president needs to act like an election is on the line, because it is.
Most of what was discussed last night was common talking points that just about anyone on this forum could address. The President needs to step up his game.
