At least that's a major motivation. Still sucking up to Trump and his whacko cultists has to be another.

Flynn is still vulnerable to new state and/or federal charges, and he can no longer plead the Fifth if called to testify in an investigation into what his pardon relates to. If any of this comes about, they'll claim vindictive Democrats are framing him.
