many years ago I depended on them to feed four kids and myself. I was quite frugal with them, cooked very inexpensive meals and bought no prepared food or junk food. I wasn't working at the time, so I had time to cook meals from scratch. If I planned carefully, I could usually make it stretch for the whole month, but the cupboards would be getting pretty bare.

For someone who didn't have the cooking skills or who works and has to rely on fixing quicker meals, it could be very difficult to make that amount stretch.

A great reminder! Karadeniz Dec 2020 #1
