The confederacy made Alexander Stephens, a Georgian, Vice President just to appease the anti-war southerners.
Georgia has always been different from its Southern neighbors. Slavery was forbidden in the original charter of the Georgia colony.
Wisdom, justice, moderation, constitution, is the state motto. I am proud to be a native Georgian. Compared to our peers, Georgia is liberal. On the whole, Georgia is moderate ... now as always.

Edited to add: It gives me great joy seeing Georgia being the lone, sane, blue state in the deep South in the 2020 election.
