Georgia has always been different from its Southern neighbors. Slavery was forbidden in the original charter of the Georgia colony.

“Wisdom, justice, moderation, constitution,” is the state motto. I am proud to be a native Georgian. Compared to our peers, Georgia is liberal. On the whole, Georgia is moderate ... now as always.
