I'm getting tired of hearing about the founding fathers [View all]

I don't know when this whole craze started, but what in the world is going on with everyone's obsession with our "founding fathers?"

I'm all for showing respect for history and the people who gave up so much for what I have...but is there no end? If Thomas Jefferson was quoted once in a newspaper, should that be the basis for our entire democracy? If Ben Franklin wrote it, is it necessarily true or should we even question the advice of the wisest men?
