I was brought up to speak respectfully to all human beings. No exceptions.

So, today, when I saw a car with a confederate flag on it, I politely asked the man what that flag meant to him. He responded with invective. I repeated my question. He called me a mouthy bitch. I shrugged and said, "well, you have to live with yourself. Have a blessed day."

I'm an atheist, but I remember some bible verse about heaping hot coals on your enemies...
