Letting Nixon, then Reagan off the hook for their crimes paved the way for Bush and Cheney, who paved the way for Trump. The irony is the "law and order" party is the home of so many serious criminals. It wouldn't be an exaggerations to say the Republican party has become a RICO organization and now Don is their don.
