The whole idea of it being a "Republic" rather than a "democracy" is that a Republic limits the power of direct democracy through the people by placing intermediary representatives (one might call them an elite!) between the mass of the people and decision-making. This idiot, of course, gets that completely backwards, yelling "We're a Republic, not a democracy: we the people, not an elite!" In other words, he prefers direct democracy rather than republican government. The stupidity of these aggressive shitheads is truly exhausting.
