Rachel Maddow used to -- so long ago -- offer recipes for cocktails on her show at the end of the week. It was a fun way for her to fill up the time! I love the memory of those days and want to get back.
But it’s going to take time. Trump will be gone and possibly out of politics forever (if there are enough spine-bearing Republican Senators to find him guilty), but the aftermath of Trumpism is still to come. He will continue to influence the demented right as long as he lives. Even in prison -- where I hope he ends up -- he would maintain control over the minds of his ratiocinatively diminished followers -- and those genuine fascist supremacists who relish the support from even so disgraced a man as Trump. So “Trumpism” is going to do a slow fade and could well come back if the Democrats blow the power they’ve recently been given by voters.
(I know “ratiocinatively” is a snobby, Sam Johnson word. But I like it. I hope y’all can indulge me this weakness. Please?
