(3,626 posts)One: He felt personally threatened by the mob. That's a powerful motivating factor. Priorities get rearranged fast when you realize you might actually personally get killed over it.
Two: His legacy. He wanted to be the "grim reaper" who would be remembered for holding the Democratic agenda at bay; yes, he's proud of that. But now it's just the era of Trump when everything got fucked up. He wants payback for that.
Three: His disciples are peeling away as they realize that the rioters in DC really went too far and now they face a real risk of being investigated and arrested. The hardcore dead-enders will remain, but there really aren't that many of them and conventional policing should be adequate to keep them at bay. And from our perspective, if they do stage any terror operations the targets will probably be Republican now. Popcorn, anyone?
