31. Me too, Olafjoy. I started listening to VOA as a teen on a transistor radio my Dad gave me.

I learned that the world is a wonderful place with magical lands everywhere. I went on to get my Third Class radio, telephone operators license and became a disc jockey for a local station. Years later, in college I earned extra money at a different station. I still have that license.

I have a short wave tube radio from the 1950's, also a gift from my Dad, that still works and can take me all over the world. I love listening to music from the world. I know with the Web, tubes are no longer required to make that trip, but I am deeply thankful for the gift. The entertainment and education I received, which taught me tolerance of and appreciation for people all over the world, as I got to know them through music is priceless.
