The right-down-the-middle pols and voters that are being tarred with this gigantic brush need to raise their voices, along with those who legitimately can be termed "leftists." The only reason this ridiculous smear has legs is because the other side is so far right that it's dragged the whole spectrum in that direction.

A strong counter is needed, and it has to be used, loud and often.
