The problem with your point is that many of them do it with glee. They go to their church, they listen to their pastor call Obama a Muslim and they smile in agreement.
Or they nod in agreement when a racist joke is told about him at the local watering hole.
Or they go to Chick-fil-A, satisfying their appetite for hatred and processed food.
I could go on. And on. And on.
You make it sound like they are just run of the mill hard working people who are merely duped, but many, in fact the overwhelming majority that I've come across in the CRIMSON RED state of Oklahoma, embrace the role of ignorant hate monger quite comfortably. They try to outdo their neighbors with rhetoric.
And these are not leaders, they're everyday people. In some ways, their leaders are actually less spine chilling.
So while I do accept your point on some levels, the reality on the ground that I see on a daily basis is not as black and white and I don't give quarter to the maliciously ignorant.
