and from Utah. Catholics were viewed as immigrants and suspicious foreigners. Catholics were largely viewed in the same way as Muslims today. Mormons have for decades pushed the agenda of being All American white bread and it is what Romney is running on now. They also didn't mind openly saying they didn't like black people which pushed Mormons up a big notch for some people.
