(114 posts)but if you are as old as I am, you would remember the first TV debate- between Nixon and John Kennedy.
It went like this-
"Kennedy and Nixon are going to be on TV for a debate this evening".
(It was 7:30 pm, I remember exactly)
"Who is Kennedy?"
Then we sat down and watched the debate. Kennedy shone like a knight coming to the rescue, while Nixon sweated and had shifty eyes and responded negatively to everything Kennedy said.
Kennedy smiled that fabulous smile, and the die was cast in that split second. Kennedy- from "Who is Kennedy?"- in 1/2 hour (they say it was an hour debate- it was 1/2 hour) Kennedy went from unknown to the favored candidate, and the rest is history.
MY POINT: These debates are so important they can change the course of history and we dare not let Romney walk away with the blue ribbon.
THAT IS WHY we FREAKED OUT when Obama fell flat. It must not happen again.
The reason we talked about it, blogged and wrung our hands is we love Obama and want him to do better- America's future depends on these debates- we must not pretend he did good when he didn't- we must be honest. And he must do better. He wilil do better, I am sure of that.
OBAMA HEAR THIS: YES- YOU CAN!
