And they'd all groan...
And I would smile and ask them why... and invariably they would tell me that an older sibling had told them how much they hated Civics.
So one year... after a particular SCOTUS ruling...
I asked the groaning class why they had no interest in Civics...
As I got almost no response, I started...
"Do you guys realize that last year I was not allowed to go into your locker without your permission, but this year I am allowed to ???"
And the ENTIRE CLASS looked at me in horror. Lockers are Sacrosanct !!!
And one kid rose her hand and said, "I was told you weren't allowed to do that!"
And as the rest of the class rose to her support in the unfairness of it all, I asked...
"You guys wanna learn more about Civics ???"
The response was unanimous.
Gotta make it real to people... put them in the soup, as it were...
