Why shouldn't it be vetted?
DU does this that via MIRT, the jury system etc. As such, it has an excellent vetting process. By contrast, other sites have NOTHING. Why shouldn't they be exposed to liability for this failure to have nothing to safeguard against defamation.
You're making my point.
On edit: Let me rephrase my last sentence. "You're making the point for vetting/liability."
I actually don't have a view on this whole issue. What I'm looking for is principled reasons why a social media or blog site should be held to a different standard than broadcast or print media. If there is no legal liability, social media can be (and is being) used as a disinformation weapon. That's my starting point, and I'm trying to find solutions to that.
