Unless Walmart doesn't care about the customer.
If there is no process, the cashier could still have told her when she got in line that she was closing.

Usually cashiers will tell the last person in line that the lane will close after them

I always look for the open light, if that isn't on I figure the the line is closed for checkout. nt

That's what I do, if I have a full cart and they pull that self-checkout crap, I do a cargo drop.

I have never seen a cashier refuse to take someone already in line, only turn down new people

If there was no other cashier it is the managers job to check out the customer.

After a certain time (9 or 10 at night, I think), Wal-Mart here always has just one cashier.
