7. Yeah the flag is a pretty big deal in the military

On an Army post (at least this was what we were told) there is one “truck”, it’s the ball at the top of the flag pole. In it are a .45 round, matches, and a razor blade. In the event that the post is being overrun lay the whole flagpole down to the north and dig 6 feet (I think it was) down to find a .45 pistol. Cut the field of blue out of the flag with the razor. Burn the flag in two pieces. You have a pistol and one round.....figure that out for yourself.

The idea that there’s a pistol just buried in the ground or that you’d have time to do all that always seemed a bit far fetched to me but that’s what they used to train us on.
