The challenge with ever getting to a unified country is that we don’t share a common set of facts. People on the right are being indoctrinated with “alternate facts” that fit their emotional needs, and Trump is being placed at the center of worship.

What’s rather pathetic is that in the world of Trump worship, the most ardent fans are also the most expendable. Look how quickly Trump’s lawyers and right wing media have cast the MAGA seditionists off the boat with no life raft.

The mainstream media is spending more time rehabbing the members of the riotous lynch lob — which is its own massive problem for our industry, frankly — than Republicans or their media are. As far as they’re concerned it’s “new MAGA phone, who dis?”

By the way after the OANN guy made that absurd claim, they played part of Trump’s 1/6 speech that proved exactly the opposite (the part where he talks about “maybe we won’t be cheering for *all* of them” and “you’ve got to show strength...” But I presume that hardly mattered.
