I think, in the end, Republicans will "do a Trump" on Trump. They want his voters, not him. [View all]
I think people like Graham, Cruz, Hawley, etc have gone too far out on the limb to come back.
And an "acquittal" vote will appear prominently on the resumes of every Republican who goes that route.
I don't see a "MAGA comeback" for Trump. Without Twitter, with Biden making leaps and bounds on his handling of COVID, filling positions with actual capable adults, and WORKING...actually showing up BEFORE NOON and sticking around till 9 PM or later...right now, Trump is just a 74 year old private citizen hanging out at the omelet bar at Mar-a-Lago.
YES...he WILL try to reclaim the spotlight at some point. I can't predict how successful he'll be at that. I don't believe he'll go the distance on a 2024 run, if he's not prohibited from doing so. Too much work. If he can get $$$$$$$$ and adoration for the least amount of effort, that's the path he'll take.
I expected more news from SDNY...that may still happen, or it may not. Georgia's not messing around...if you saw Rachel Maddow's show last night, you know this is coming.
Nikki Haley's reversal was not unexpected. She's an opportunist. She knows that an acquittal will be strictly partisan and won't play well to the non-MAGA crowd.
I think you will hear less and less about Trump, that the "Q" loons and MAGA Republicans will still do their thing...but I think you'll see more attempts to "rebrand" and less attempts to get Trump up on Mount Rushmore.
