We haz the AWESOME! [View all]

Just got home from our big, organizational OFA GOTV meeting. We'd hoped that forty people would attend - we had more than eighty.

And before getting into the nuts and bolts of what we'll be doing in the coming days, we got a brief rundown on what we've been doing so far. Best report dealt with our voter registration efforts: by the end of the last day to register (yesterday), we'd exceeded our high-end expectation by 150%; we registered over 6000 voters in the county!

We registered Democrats, Republicans, and independents in just about equal numbers. As we were entering the data from all those forms yesterday, people kept coming in to our field office to register, including a number of unaffiliated voters who told us they would be voting for Obama; and a couple of those independents asked if they could volunteer to help us get out the vote.

I listened to those conversations as I sat at the computer doing data entry. Made me smile. Made all of us smile.

We do haz the awesome!
