(62,536 posts)88. I was tricked by that "discount brand" thing with laundry soap.
Was using Sun laundry soap for years but I would go through a big jug of the stuff in a few months. Switched to Tide because I needed to break a hundred one time (it's expensive, $7 for the largest Sun brand, $18 for the largest Tide) and amazingly a little cup of the stuff was all that was needed to actually get the clothes clean.
3 months later and I still have half a jug. So it seems that it'll last 3 times longer than the Sun brand which comes out to about $1 less for the whole jug.

Maybe they rationalize it by thinking that people wouldn't want to use scented bleach to disinfect.

All that is accurate. It's the same with 'value' vinegar. 4% acidity vs 5 or 6.

Umm, yeah...anything more than 8-10% would be a little bit dangerous, and we can't have that.

I was going to look at the MSDS for the various Clorox products to find the strongest one
