For a moment, when his aides told him how bad the optics were, Cruz recognized his mistake. But as he proposed and now repeats his absurd justification, he begins to believe it. For Ted, those self serving lies are passing through the lie/truth brain barrier into the realm of absolute certainty, right about...now.
Expect a lifetime of full throated defense on the one hand, and a victim of cancel culture lamentation on the other.
