and a good number of our other counties.

We have a thing called voting centers, which means you can vote at any precinct location in your county on Election Day - not just the one in your home precinct. In order to do this we had to upgrade our equipment'; we had to be able to check in anyone in the county at any location, and generate the correct ballot for that voter. . A voter can check in at any location, vote on a touch screen which then generates the printed ballot. The printed ballot is then scanned. Total paper backup on every single ballot.

Once we log a voter in, we can generate an access code to the touch screen that will pull up the correct ballot for that voter. It is so cool.

I believe around 40 percent of our counties are now using voter centers. We had 300 available voting locations here on Election Day; I have 6 within 10 minutes of my house. Houston had 700 I believe.

We are getting purpler every year. Our biggest problem has been voter turnout. Democrats have been depressed for so long because we had so many unopposed Republicans that the only time we get halfway decent turnout is for President and Governor.

That has been showing change for the past 2 cycles and we are working hard to make it better.
