(53,239 posts)And during all those years, there were times when he pissed me off, but for the most part, he was must-watch-TV. He often says out loud what a lot of people are thinking, but won't say.
Meanwhile, no one was more horrified by the election of Donald Trump than Bill Maher. He was rightfully concerned that it could be the end of our democracy. You'd think that he could express some relief and happiness that Joe Biden is in the White House, but he acted rather disappointed that it wasn't someone else, though I have no idea who he thought would be better. I recall him dissing pretty much every Democratic candidate during the primaries. Perhaps he's not happy unless he is unhappy about something or someone.
Maher's opening monologue and New Rules are usually funny, but I watched the show for the serious dialogue. The comedy was just frosting on the cake.
Maybe Trump was a bad habit that was hard to break for comedians and political pundits. There are so few people who can take his place.
