98. Agree with you Freelancer

First of all the gross exaggerations here at DU of what Maher did or said on a given show and the context in which it occurred is fascinating to behold for people like myself who watch each week. The descriptions here and the reality of what I watched for myself are often so far apart they aren't even on the same planet.

And I'm sorry but anyone that thinks Maher isn't firmly on our side has powers of perception that are just worthless. The guy always encourages people to vote for Democrats and donates huge sums of money to Democratic campaigns. He spends the vast majority of his time on the air just absolutely eviscerating right wingers. The sad truth is that far too many in our camp have become so intolerant that anyone who doesn't agree with them 100% of the time is viewed just as negatively as a real enemy. The end result is that they would toss people like Maher onto the dung heap of history despite the fact that he probably agrees with them on at least 90% of the issues facing us today. Not good enough baby. Gotta be totally pure or you are no better than a MAGA hat wearing Trump cultist. Ironically the MAGA hat wearing Trump cultists adhere to the same all or nothing membership standards for their side.

Sad to see us emulating them.
