Not the raving mob, he's their God-King and any indictment let alone arrest is going to send them absolutely ballistic...which, while it would be messy in the short term, would probably end up being a good thing in the long run, they'd finally have given an excuse to crush them with overwhelming force...but I digress.

The politicians wouldn't take it well, I'd expect the entire peanut gallery from Rafael and Josh The Nazi to Margarine Traitor-Greene and Bang-Bang Boebert to go absolutely apeshit; try all sorts of Congressional tricks, rile up their bases, throw tantrums on the House floor, maybe even have an internal riot and beat up Democrats themselves - I could see one of the fucking lunatic armed freshman drawing a gun on the floor.

The ultra-rich Republican donor class, though...they certainly inflated their wealth by unimaginable amounts under Trump, but he didn't make any of them unspeakably rich in the first place and not a one of them "owes" him a damn thing.

His energization of the GOP base suited their ends, but they aren't mindless cult followers like his popular base and Congressional bootlickers - and with Trump out of power, ginning up a national firefight is not in their best interests, Hell, the Kochs didn't contribute to his 2020 run, and I doubt ol' Sheldon is feeling particularly charitable after the abuse Trump heaped on him this summer. I'd be more inclined to think they'd quietly talk to some of the key GOP players and make it clear that Trump gets hung out to dry, or their money will be going elsewhere.

I'd be interested to see if the FBI might try to step in; US law is clear that interstate extradition requests must be granted, but DeSantis would probably rather screw a pig on live TV than hand Trump over...

Can't wait to see! soothsayer Mar 2021 #1
