All your family members; friends and acquaintances from grade school on; people you've worked for and with; people you've conducted business with; all of them.

Now, think about living your life in such a scumbag fashion that there is a sizable percentage of people in every category that you've screwed over in one way or another in the course of your life. You've been successful at bullying or intimidating most of them into silence, bought off most of the rest, and you think you're in the clear. Then, one of bullied persons decides she's not going to be bullied anymore. One of the bought off decides the price wasn't high enough. They start coming out of your past like beads of sweat on your forehead in the summer sun.
