(34,189 posts)Such as after a horseback ride, the horse slams her head into mine, fracturing the eye socket, and causing so much bleeding that I went blind in that eye for a month. Then later that week, the same horse's colt was feeling frisky at a show and kicked me in the thigh on that side since I couldn't see what he was doing.
Later that year, the same colt, still frisky, reared and snatched my shoulder. Although I couldn't lift that arm, I waited for three months to see a doctor. Six months after that when they finally operated, the should had to be completely reconstructed since only three of the rotator cuff ligaments were intact and the cartilage inside the joint was shredded.
Wait - I just thought of a bad day. The day the stallion that I had raised from a foal died of a heart attack in front of me. I try to write it out of my memory because twenty years later it still hurts.
