(100,133 posts)JMHO, but not one Democratic president, governor, senator, or congressman should resign without an impartial hearing of the facts, including a little peek at the loudest accusers past and present political associations.
This is the monster created by the GOP, and we feed it at our peril.
Caveat: I am truly sorry that the experiences of the past few decades have made me cynical about American politics. The GOP in its lust for power has created a scorched-earth policy and politics of personal destruction. This culminated in the putsch of January 6 this year.
I am and remain a Democrat for many reasons. I believe in fairness, diversity, and lifting up historically disenfranchised and abused groups. I think the old way of handling womens accusations of rape and abuse was wrong and inhumane and unjust.
BUT when it comes to politics, the Dems are the only ones addressing these issues in good faith, or often even at all. And surprise surprise, the GOP has learned how use our desire to do the right thing against us. Like a witch hunt in Salem 1692, all someone has to do is point the finger of sexual harassment accusation at one of ours and we hop to it, collecting kindling and fire starter as fast as we can.
My gods. No one is ever, ever, ever going to be sexually pure enough for us Dems, are they? We took an exceptionally bright Senator Al Franken who had a past as a talented comedian doing (among other things) co-ed sexually themed skits for US military, and drove him out of Washington DC, while the GOP made damn sure Brett Kavanaugh got a lifetime appointment to the SCOTUS.
We Dems need to attain a sense of balance. Not all women are acting in good faith. Some of them are actually political operatives for the other side. Some of them have resentment issues or are swayed by offers of money. Who the hell knows? Thats what investigations are for, and gods willing well do it better than the GOP, and learn to call out the media for their part in destruction.
Right now, Ill implore you all as I did at the outset of the Cuomo controversy: Think, people! When not one but a whole bunch of Democratic governors are under attack all at once, thats too much for coincidence, especially in the midst of a war on our democracy declared by the GOP.
