although they don't call them "wars", congress has approved every significant engagement we have been in since WW2 (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq 1, Iraq 2, Afghanistan, etc.).

The only ones I can think of they didn't approve are Cambodia under Nixon, and some smaller engagements (Bosnia, Panama, Libya, Reagan's bombing of Libya), all of which (except Bosnia) we were in and out of within the time frame of the war powers act.
