(12,008 posts)I'm definitely in agreement that the word "progressive" is meaningless bullshit in contemporary political discourse - or, rather, it makes me think that someone who uses it is bullshitting.
However, do you not think that there are legitimate criticisms to be made toward Obama from the left? (of course there are criticism from the right, even within his party, but I don't know if I'd ever call them legitimate) I'm afraid that this sort of thing can just lead to a de-facto position of always just going for the lesser of two evils. I'd rather go for something I passionately agree with.
Obama's done some great things, and I think he'll do great things in a second term as well, but that doesn't mean I don't think he's also done terrible things and will likely continue to do things I think are terrible. Should I not voice my opinion because I like some of his actions and policy decisions while disliking others? He's in office to represent me, after all.
