The few times I bought women's jeans, they were too baggy in the butt and the pockets were inconsistent. Some had really small pockets, and at least one pair had pockets that went almost to my knees!
And as you say, men's jeans are tougher. The denim used for women's jeans is thinner and can't take much wear - not good when you're patching fence.

Pockets are my biggest gripe against women's clothes. I won't even buy at Dick's Sporting goods.
