I also have a pilot's license, including a flight instructor certificate, got it the slow, expensive way. A pilot friend (general aviation, not airline) was driving through Wisconsin, whose state troopers are notoriously aggressive and hostile, when he was pulled over for speeding. The trooper said, "You were really flying. Let me see your pilot's license." My friend handed him his pilot's license. The cop looked at it, sighed, and said, "Get outta here!" And he didn't give him a ticket.
