Socialism means a lot of things. But if you focus on just wealth inequality, I believe you can come up with a metric to determine if your economic system is a socialist system. You can use the infamous 1% statistic. In the US, the top 1% owns 40% of the nation's wealth. In a ideological socialist system, the top 1% would own...well...somewhere around 1% of the nation's wealth. On the flip side, 40% feels pretty close to unfettered capitalism to me.

So when you provide some simple definitions and metrics, you can see just how absurd of a slippery slope argument it really is.
