U.S. Chamber opposes Democratic voting rights bill

11. I sent this to the Savannah, GA Chamber of Commerce

My in-laws live in Hilton Head, SC. When we visit them, it is not uncommon for us go on an outing to Savannah, GA. While there, the four of us might visit the sights, eat at a restaurant, or do some shopping.
I am writing to inform you that, with the passage and signing into law of SB 202, I will be doing everything in my power not to spend one single dime in Georgia until the current Republican elected officials are voted out of office and significant steps are taken to overturn Georgia’s pattern of racist voter suppression. I strongly suspect I am by no means the only person who feels this way.
Specifically, I will:
1) Encourage my in-laws to visit me in (Blue) Virginia instead of going to visit them.
2) Encourage my in-laws to stay local to the Hilton Head area for dining and shopping, both while we are there visiting and when we are not.
3) If I do end up in Savannah, bringing with me (as much as possible) food and drink to avoid having to buy any in Georgia and not purchasing anything from any of the shops in Georgia (with the possible exception if I see something I really love at a black owned business).
4) Fortunately, I no longer need to fly into Savannah to visit my in-laws!
Yes, I realize that the Chamber of Commerce is not the government, is a non-partisan entity, and/or is not a political entity. With all due respect, the majority of Chamber of Commerce members are Republicans, the Chamber historically tends to support Republicans, and it is almost certain that the Chamber’s members have donated to Republican candidates. If you want me, and others who are prepared to boycott Georgia over this travesty of a bill, to change my mind, I suggest you start working now to oust the current extremist administration and do everything you can to make sure that the next administration and legislature supports the democratic right of all American citizens to vote.
Should SB 202 (or parts of it) be overturned based on legal challenges, that will not be sufficient to change my mind. The current anti-democratic and corrupt elected officials need to be removed from office before I will be willing to voluntarily spend money in Georgia.
